Our orthopedic center pairs leading-edge technology with compassionate care to offer our patients joint treatments that work. We offer both surgical and nonsurgical treatments and services, as well as injection therapy. Our treatments and services include:
We are also proud to offer minimally-invasive surgery using the MAKO robotic arm. Minimally-invasive procedures use robotic technology to perform surgeries. These procedures involve smaller incisions, which results in less blood loss and tissue damage, as well as faster recoveries and less postoperative pain.
One of the most significant advances in orthopedic medicine over the past many years, arthroscopic surgery is an outpatient procedure in which the surgeon uses a small camera and specialized instruments to diagnose and treat many common conditions. Cartilage, ligament and tendon injuries are some of the most frequently seen problems that benefit from arthroscopy.
Smaller incisions, less pain and quicker recovery are some of the potential benefits this type of surgery provides over traditional open procedures. However, due to the nature and severity of many problems encountered in orthopedics, not all problems are able to be treated with arthroscopic techniques.
Many of our arthroscopic surgeries are performed at Tallgrass Ambulatory Surgical Center. This award winning, state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center is located on the first floor of our Tallgrass location. Their friendly, caring staff are experts in the treatment of patients undergoing arthroscopic surgery.
Our physicians provide emergency orthopedic call services at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Many of these calls involve the evaluation and management of patients with fractures (broken bones). Fracture care covers the entire spectrum of treatment of simple broken bones to severe life threatening accidents with multiple skeletal injuries. The main goals of fracture treatment are to promote the healing of the broken bone, restore the anatomic alignment of the bone or joint surface, and to return the injured body part to maximum function.
When a problem occurs with our hands, attention must be given to all the different types of tissues that make function possible. The providers at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus offer treatment plans designed to keep you doing the things that you enjoy. Fortunately, if these problems require surgical treatment, they often are able to be performed in an outpatient setting.
Our doctors provide care for the following conditions that affect the hands:
