I had a complete knee replacement, it's been 8 weeks now and my knee is feeling stronger than it has in a long time, thanks to Dr. Gillen and his staff. Getting my riding lawn mower ready to cut grass next week.

I'm not going to say that Dr Gillen is a bad Dr. My surgery went well. But Dr Gillen's bedside manner leave a lot to be desired. His attitude towards me was highly uncalled for. There were mistakes made on both sides but him being so arrogant and thinking he doesn't make mistakes makes it hard to trust him and wonder if he is giving the care I need. I believe he has a great staff but they'll never complain for fear of repercussions. I don't know why he chose me to be the bad guy but that's probably because he doesn't like that title behind his name. I believe he picks and chooses who he wants to treat good. Unfortunately I'm not the one he chose to like. I wish him the best and will definitely be praying for him that he doesn't treat anyone else like he did me. Connie Land

9 months ago I had shoulder replacement with this fine Dr.Gillen and Staff! The office meet, the procedure, the follow ups and then rehab went smoothly. Everything got back to normal after rehab and following Instructions. Simply go on with what you do!

He was very good at explaining what the surgery would entail. When I saw the incision, I was very impressed at how unnoticeable it was! Pain went away pretty quickly, my recovery was ahead of schedule. I am very pleased with his work!!!

I fell down courthouse stairs. The hand rail curved. The stairs went straight. It has been about five mo. Since. My shoulder had to have orif surgery. It has full range of motion and feels fine. The scar is gone in some of the places and healing fine. The hip that was fractured is better than before. Karen

I had total knee replacement over a year ago. The process was much better than I ever expected. Dr Gillen is the best at what he does, I wouldn't go to anybody else.

Dr. Gillen did my left total hip replacement on September 16th, I ended up having some complications with my sciatic nerve and I ended up with the drop foot. My left foot, and lower left side of my leg has been numb since surgery, nerve pain is no joke. But Dr. Gillen has been very caring and very apologetic that this happened. His nurses Emily and Nancy are the best nurses I ever met! and Dr. Gillen is a big teddy bear, he is so sweet and caring. he has went over and beyond to try and make me comfortable with my situation. I would recommend Dr. Gillen to anyone!! Thank you Dr. Gillen for being a wonderful and caring Surgeon, you have a wonderful team w/Joe, Nancy and Emily!!

Was sent to Dr. Gillen by the Topeka VA which has provided my healthcare since my benes ran out the spring of 2018 (last workday was in January). Since I had gotten my care primarily through KU and before that SCL, my expectations were fairly high. From the young lady at the desk through the nurses, and PA I was impressed by their patience and professionalism. Would rather Doc had a wider range of options to offer, but should the injections and rehab fail to make the need to repair the damage unnecessary I would not hesitate to put my care in the hands of Dr Gillen and his staff.

I have been with Dr Gillen for the last 10 years.He has performed 4 spine surgeries on me. He's a wonderful surgeon. I will be taking the 2 hour drive and following him to Topeka.The thought of having to go somewhere else terrifies me. He's not only a good doctor he's a good person. He takes the time to listen and is very considerate to your needs and wants. I would definitely recommend him to anyone having back problems.

He is good, friendly and does what he says. Both knee replaced 10 months ago, and am getting along pretty good. With some numbness due to a back problem I really have done very well with both knees. My progress I would say is slower because of the numbness from a back problem..but knees work fine and are getting better all the time.
