MonaLisa Touch®

As a woman ages, her estrogen levels begin to decline, causing unwanted vaginal discomfort that can interfere with her personal life. As many as half of the 64 million postmenopausal women in the U.S. may be suffering from changes in their gynecologic health. While menopause and hormonal changes are inevitable, the symptoms that come along with them don’t have to be.

Thousands of women have found relief with MonaLisa Touch® laser therapy for vaginal symptoms associated with menopause, natural aging, cancer treatments, childbirth and more. The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus Women’s Center is one of the first to offer these treatments to women in Topeka and the surrounding communities of northeast Kansas.

What is MonaLisa Touch® laser therapy?

MonaLisa Touch® is a medical treatment that aims to improve gynecologic health conditions and/or symptoms. This therapy is an alternative to hormonal treatments or vaginal creams.

MonaLisa Touch® helps restore vaginal health by generating new collagen, elastin and vascularization. This fast, gentle and effective nonsurgical approach delivers fractional CO2 ablation to the vaginal wall tissue, promoting collagen growth and relieving vaginal discomfort. These procedures are performed in-office by one of our OB/GYN physicians. The recommended treatment plan is three treatments spaced six weeks apart. Each treatment lasts only 5 minutes and there is no need for anesthesia or pain medication. There are minimal side effects and virtually no downtime. Most women can return to normal activities right away, but may need to refrain from sexual activity for up to a week as directed by their doctor. In order to maintain continued relief, a single repeat treatment session is recommended once a year.

Some women notice improvement after just one session with maximum results achieved after the three treatment cycle.
