Corey True, DNP, APRN, FNP, is a doctorate-level nurse practitioner on our cardiothoracic surgery team. He is guided by the principle of treating every patient as he would his own family. With a strong background in critical care, Corey combines clinical expertise with a deep commitment to listening, clear communication, and patient-centered care.

He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Corey began his nursing career in the ICU at St. Francis, where he worked for nearly seven years. That experience built a strong foundation in assessment and critical thinking, which he now applies in his work in cardiothoracic surgery. Growing up in a rural community surrounded by healthcare professionals—his father in radiology and his mother in both respiratory therapy and nursing—Corey was drawn to healthcare early on. Working as a nursing assistant in high school further sparked his interest and confirmed his path.

Outside of work, Corey enjoys hosting board game nights, playing pickleball and golf and practicing guitar. He and his wife, Ashley, were married in early 2025 and celebrated their honeymoon with a Disney cruise. They are active members of Fellowship Bible Church, where Corey co-hosts a weekly community group. Having started his career at St. Francis, Corey is proud to serve in a place that shaped his early experience and now supports the next chapter of his professional journey.
