About Amber Coleman, DNP, FNP-C
Amber Coleman, DNP, FNP-C, is a is a doctorate-level nurse practitioner with our cardiothoracic surgery team who brings deep experience, compassion, and a calming presence to every patient interaction. With a background in both operating room nursing and advanced practice, she has dedicated her career to supporting patients through some of the most complex and emotional moments in their health journey. Amber believes that taking time to truly listen to patients and their families builds trust and confidence—especially when heart surgery is involved. Her goal is to be a steady, encouraging presence for every patient she sees.
Amber earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She spent 14 years as an operating room nurse on the heart team before transitioning to her current role in cardiothoracic surgery in 2019. She is especially passionate about heart disease in women, as their symptoms are often subtle or different from what’s typically expected—leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment. Amber is committed to raising awareness about these differences and educating others to help ensure women receive timely, appropriate care.
Outside of work, Amber enjoys life on her small farm, where she has chickens, quail, and a longhorn cow named Franny. She also enjoys gardening and preserving her own food. She and her husband have been married for 20 years and have three sons.
