About Gerard Pryor, APRN
Gerard Pryor, APRN, is a certified family nurse practitioner dedicated to holistic and patient-centered care. He emphasizes preventative measures, such as lifestyle medicine and screenings, to address patient needs beyond just symptoms. By collaborating with patients on interventions like nutrition and stress management, he aims to prevent and manage chronic conditions effectively. His approach aligns wellness promotion and chronic condition management with patients’ priorities, fostering autonomy and building respectful, trusting relationships.
With a background in inpatient cardiology, Gerard has a special interest in preventative care, patient education, and cardiovascular risk assessment. He is committed to providing evidence-based, high-quality care to the community, particularly promoting cardiovascular wellness through nutrition, activity, and lifestyle improvements. Gerard’s drive to pursue healthcare stems from his desire to help others and his enjoyment of learning. He has worked at St. Francis for several years, experiencing the welcoming environment and camaraderie that define the organization. During his time as a student in their outpatient setting, the supportive and approachable nature of the staff across various clinics reinforced his desire to align his career with the mission and values of St. Francis.
Gerard holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Chamberlain University in Downers Grove, Illinois, and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Outside of work, Gerard is actively involved as an actor and volunteer for the Flint Hills Shakespeare Festival, a regional theatrical initiative and festival. He also enjoys spending time with his four children and working on one of many home improvement projects.
