Emergencies happen when you least expect them. When one arises, you can trust the Emergency Department at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus to provide responsive, patient-centered care for you and your loved ones. With state-of-the-art facilities and specially trained staff, we are able to handle medical emergencies for patients of all ages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Anyone having a serious medical emergency should call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Emergency care is the right choice for treating conditions including, but not limited to:
• Signs of stroke or heart attack
• Head or other serious injuries
• Loss of consciousness
• Severe fractures, cuts or burns
• Severe allergic reactions
• Pregnancy complications
• Severe abdominal pain
What to expect in the emergency room
Upon arrival, you will be assessed as soon as possible by triage staff to determine the level of care you need. We assess every patient who enters our emergency room doors. If your assessment indicates a condition that may be critical, you will be seen immediately. While we recognize that every person’s reason for visiting the emergency room is important and we make every attempt to keep wait times as short as possible, please be advised that critically ill or injured patients will receive priority treatment regardless of their arrival time. We appreciate your patience as we strive to provide the highest quality of care to all patients as quickly as possible.

We are an accredited Chest Pain Center Primary PCI with Resuscitation by the American College of Cardiology for our exceptional ability to treat patients with heart attack symptoms.

We are recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center and Stroke Rehabilitation Center by The Joint Commission for our dedication to fostering better outcomes for stroke patients.
Parking
Our Emergency Department entrance is conveniently located at the corner of 6th Avenue and Horne Street. Parking is available in the parking lot directly outside the main Emergency Department entrance.
