Denise Nickel, APRN, CNM, received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Washburn University in 1999 and a master's degree in nursing with a certificate in midwifery from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2007. Her experience in nursing includes working as a registered nurse in the ICU/CCU and seven years of high-risk labor and delivery experience. Nickel joined the Women’s Center at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in 2007 and is board-certified through the American College of Nurse Midwives. For Denise, her favorite part of her job is hearing a baby’s heartbeat for the first time, and knowing she’ll be part of the team that will bring that that baby into the world. When she’s not standing beside her patients as their families grow, she’s spending time with her own family — a husband, son and two daughters.
